How to Collect Your Instagram Business Data

In this guide we will walk you through the steps to activate Instagram Business IQ integration. This will allow you to collect performance and insights data for use in your favorite analytics tools like Tableau, Qlik, Mode or Looker.

Specifically, we will cover the following;

  • How to start the ordering process for Instagram Business account data

  • Setting up access so Openbridge can be authorized to access your Instagram Business account

  • Lastly, selecting and configuring the desired Instagram Business account you want to collect performance data from

It should take no more than 60 seconds to activate a data integration!

Step 1: Visit the Instagram Business IQ Product Page

The first step is to visit our Instagram Business IQ product page. If you don’t have an account, you will need to create one. It takes about 20 seconds to set up an account.

There are a few different types of accounts. Everyone who registers gets a free developer account which includes 3 free integrations. This means you can collect data from 3 Instagram Business accounts at no cost to you!

In addition to our Developer accounts the guide also applies to those with Enterprise accounts too.

Developer Account

If you have a developer account, you select Developer Plan and then Order. As we mentioned, you can get up to 3 integrations at no charge. Each integration collects data from one Instagram business account:

If you are an enterprise customer, then you will be presented with your plan and an Order button:

Step 2: Authorizing Openbridge Access to Your Instagram Business Account

The next step is setting up a Facebook user in our system that has permissions to access the desired Instagram Business account. If you are unclear about this, Facebook has documented how to set a user up with the correct access permissions. If you already have a Facebook user with the correct permissions, you can click “Create A New Identity”.

You will be presented with a dialog to login with your Facebook Account ( A ). You can also invite someone else who has a Facebook user account authorized to set this up for you ( B ). For this guide, we are assuming you select path ( A ). Click “Login with Facebook”

You will be presented with a Facebook authorization screen. This confirms you are authorizing Openbridge to connect to Instagram on your behalf. Click “OK”

Congratulations, you have authorized Openbridge to collect insights data!

You will now see your new account listed in our authorization page. Select this new account to configure your subscription

Step 3: Activate Your Instagram Business IQ Subscription

In this last step we can now activate your subscription! This is where you select your target Instagram Business account that you want us to collect performance data from.

In ( A ) you want to give your subscription an easily identifiable nickname. This is what we use as a label to identify this subscription in relation to any others that may be in the system.

Next, you select the desired Instagram account ( B ). We will display all the accounts that the authorized user has access to.

You then select the delivery location for all the data we collect ( C ). We will display as many database destinations as you have configured in our system.

Lastly, you confirm your order with “Pay and Launch” ( D ). That is it! You have now activated an integration that will collect insights data for the Instagram account you setup.
